2nd last lesson of Aesthetics

Hey! ^_^

Ok for today I did the chain stitch on my bag as I needed it for the stalk... AND I had forgotten how to do the chain stitch overnight... Luckily Yulu aka Yolo helped me search online on how to sew a chain stitch( she also needed to do the chain stitch) Yayy...

Pic of me sewing the bag:

Hey : D

This is gonna be my last blog and here's my evaluation... :)

1)Challenges that I faced:
As I've mentioned in one of my earlier blogs, the base of my bag is curved. And I realized that I drew the curve wrongly.( I did not measure the lengths of the sides of my bag so one side is shorter than the other side. You would notice it if you looked carefully.) I sewed the curve without realizing that the curve was wrong and I only discovered it after sewing... ( I'm so blur >.<)

2)How did I overcome it:
I went to seek advice from my teacher and I found out that the problem did not seem as serious as it was as once the bag is sewn and turned inside out, the mistake would not be so obvious. Yayy... My bag was saved!

3)Did the deciding process help me achieve my goal?
Yes, it helped me understand what was my goal better and it also helped me focus more on the suitable decorations and size for the bag. It also helped me understand what I want and need on the bag, so that I know what I must have on the bag when I make it.

4)What was I most proud of:
The design on the pocket!!! It didn't really turn out like what I wanted because I didn't really have the right colour... It is supposed to depict a scene of a mountain/hill with a meadow( it turned out yellow) with flowers and a rainbow(made up of circles). BUT I STILL FIND IT THE BEST =)

5)What could I have done better:
I think that I should have made the straps of my bag to what a usual bags straps look like. It will not look so much like a dress then.

6)Did the prototype look like what I wanted?
Yes, it is the correct size and shape that I wanted. It is similar to what I have in mind before I started on the bag.

7)What would I change/improve on if I could do it again?
The straps and the curve of the bag...(look at 5 and 1)

8)Did my end product turn out satisfactory?
Yes, even though I have accidentally done some mistakes, it turned out better than I thought it would

9)Did I have trouble surfing resources for my bag?
Yes, I had limited resources at home and I did not want to spend money on resources

Ok, that's the end...

Bye! =D

Sewing the curve and decor of bag

Hi, (oh my gosh I'm late again...)

Yayy!!! So I FINALLY finished the curve of the bag... And I spent the rest of the lesson helping other ppl who has the same problem as me... -_- At least I know how to set the machine to different sewing patterns now (and I had a disciple. Luv you soo much XH) ... =)

So about the bag...

Well, it's done up to here...

I don't know if I should change the position of the strap, because I find that if I carry the bag with the straps at this current position, the bag would kind of "crumple up" and it won't look good...
I'm just gonna sew the stems of the flowers and sew on the ribbons...

Sewing the bag

Hey, I'm back! :D

This post is sooooo late.... :(

But the good news is I've finally started sewing my bag!!! :D

Picture of me sewing my bag:

And I just got introduced to the curved ruler to make the curved bottom of my bag( as you can see from my previous blogs if you don't know what I mean):

I didn't manage to draw it as I realised that the bottom of my bag wasn't straight:((( and my
curve looked more like a straight line instead of a curved one. :((( So I'm gonna bring my own french curve...D: And I think I "speeded"(for the sewing machine :3) 'cause my stitches are not even, certain parts of the stitches are too far apart... :(

And FINALLY, I'm gonna finish up the decorations!!! YYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSHHHHHHH.  YAYY! I wanna finish up my bag..... :D

Prototype

Hey! :D

I did the prototype of my bag today.... It took quite a while for me to do it and it looks more 2D than 3D. Haha.
Here are some pictures of my classmates trying to do their prototype...

Too bad that I don't have a picture of myself. :(
Its hard to do my prototype of the bag as it is curved and not rectangular like the others... My prototype still looks weird to me...

Gosh, I know this might be a little late to post this post up but... never mind...

Ok, so here's my task factorisation and idealisation part of the mind map:

Oh yes, and the picture of my future bag....:

It's a bit plain so I'm gonna sew some beads or a picture onto my bag.....

First Lesson!

I was a bit shocked to find out that we have to make a bag by ourselves with the help of our teacher as I've no experience of making bags nor any experience with a sewing machine ( I have a manual sewing machine at home but I've never really used it as my mom won't let me touch it...). When I was thinking about what kind of bag I want to make, I couldn't think of much... I think my creativity is kind of limited... >.<

For the presentation/research for one type of cloth, I was a bit unhappy over the 'dispute' over who to group with who... It is kind of time wasting... But at least its settled... :D

FINALLY, I get a chance to work with the sewing machine... Haha. Yayy...XD
